Naga is an equally powerful symbol as Garuda in Thailand. It symbolizes the underworld, and like its enemy Garuda, it is featured on many temples in Thailand and is also the protector of Buddha. Naga can be shown with one to seven or more heads of a serpent body. The Naga coin completes the Mythic Battle of Dynamic Opposites series, where the two mythical creatures clash in battle.
The 2 oz fine-silver coin is struck in a new minting technique called “Bi-Metal Reverse”, that combines 2 oz silver as the base layer for the top layer of 11.5 oz copper which results in super ultra-high relief while being complemented with antiqued silver finishing. The technique allows the coin to have an incredible weight and feel in the hand together with its 80 mm diameter size.
The collectible showcases the three-headed Naga with a slot to enclose the first coin from the series, “Garuda”, to complete the design of the battle between the two mythical creatures. The design highlights the traditional scene of Garuda’s hold on Naga in an advantageous position. The obverse features the legal tender, the Coat of Arms du Tchad.
As the first of its kind, the obverse acts as the Certificate of Authenticity, for both collectible coins in the series, “Garuda” and “Naga”, certifying that the collectible coin is authentic and issued by the authority of the Republique du Tchad and is legal tender in the country.
